Thetis Island Nature Conservancy is a non-profit society located on Thetis Island in the Salish Sea off the coast of British Columbia. We presently operate as a committee under the Cowichan Land Trust.

About us

Our goals are conservation and stewardship of natural ecosystems and promotion of community food security.

Conservation and Stewardship of Natural Ecosystems

• To raise awareness through education about natural ecosystems and species on Thetis Island.

• To foster stewardship of natural ecosystems and species on Thetis Island with a focus on sensitive ecosystems and species at risk.

• To assist Thetis Island landowners to create conservation covenants on their property.

• To acquire ecologically important lands when possible for the community for the purposes of conservation, stewardship and education.

Community Food Security

• To expand The Learning Garden at the Thetis Island Community Hall to act as a model and learning venue for sustainable small-scale home and communal gardening.

• To promote, facilitate, and participate in local initiatives that grow food for the community.

• To work with island farmers toward a community food security plan.
